My wife left me yesterday ….. for the day! She went to the coast to San Pedro de Alcántara with her German friends,. They then went to Málaga city to take home another German friend, who had come on the bus to meet them in San Pedro. So, I was kind of “de Rodríguez” (footloose and fancy-free) for the day.

The Tropicana is a restaurant in Ronda. We used to go when it was a tiny place on a corner on Avenida de Malaga. Then, around 2019, they purchased premises in the centre of Ronda, and refurbished the local. This fine restaurant has established a strong reputation. In fact, it's number 2 on TripAdvisor.

In April 2021 nine foreign residents of the Serrania de Ronda featured in a documentary on local station Charry TV. They are all still here 3 years later. But what are they up to now?

The Moors from North Africa invaded Spain in 711 and were finally expelled in 1492. Setenil de las Bodegas, however, was quite problematic for the reconquering Christians. 7 - 0 was was the score over several centuries in the battle between Moors and Christians in this hilltop village. Indeed, the name Setenil is derived from this scoreline: siete – nulo.
