The first two cyclists passed my house in Fuente de la Higuera at km 69 at 11.00 am having started out 2.25 hours earlier from Ronda football stadium. They were followed five minutes later by three more. Within 10 minutes a total of 10 mountain-bikers had passed by.

It's all been happening at the beginning of May. The first four days of the fifth month have been significant culturally and in other ways.

Time was, when I was younger, Spanish wines had a bad reputation. In the UK, the Netherlands and Germany they were the cheapest on the market and in France - well, they had their own fine Bordeaux and Burgundy wines, as well as excellent vins de pays.

After all the rain we've had - nay, suffered - this year, Spring has suddenly come upon us here in Ronda (Malaga) with a vengeance. I took a stroll around my garden last week taking photos of trees, shrubs and bushes which are bursting forth with healthy blossom. There are also plants and vegetables which are thriving after all the rain. Unfortunately there are also weeds everywhere, which I'm gradually getting to grips with.

De hecho, son los nombres que se les han dado a las borrascas (tormentas) que hemos sufrido en la provincia de Málaga durante este año hidrológico (2025/26). ¡Nueve borrascas con nombre desde octubre! Y eso sin contar otros fenómenos meteorológicos adversos sin nombre.

¡Estas localidades de la Serranía de Ronda y la Sierra de Grazalema han sido noticia! Cobertura mediática masiva en la televisión nacional, internet y la prensa nacional. ¡Y por las razones equivocadas! Debido al temporal que llega del oeste, principalmente la tormenta Leonardo, se han emitido alertas rojas y naranjas para Cádiz, Extremadura y algunas zonas de Andalucía.
